Welcoming Our First-Year Family Medicine Residents

The Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program prepares family medicine residents with a broad-scope curriculum and opportunities to practice patient care in a variety of settings prior to private practice. During their three-year residency in Lincoln, Nebraska, family medicine residents will have an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills training in areas such as advanced cardiac life support, neonatal resuscitation, suturing technique, advanced trauma life support, and casting technique. Residents also have the ability to focus on areas of interest such as obstetrics, internal medicine, and behavioral medicine.

Each year, eight new resident physicians are selected to join our program. These physicians have trained at highly ranked universities around the country, learning cutting-edge techniques and evidence-based practices that they are able to utilize in the care of patients at Lincoln Family Medicine Center. We are pleased to welcome the following physicians.

Continuity of relationships developed through family medicine and being part of a patient’s continual care was key to helping him decide to become a family medicine physician. He realized that the responsibility of caring for the well-being of human life is something he considers to be sacred and the greatest honor he could ever have.

Ryan Christensen, DO

Ryan Christensen, DO, participated in a medical explorer post at a hospital in his hometown of Pleasant Grove, Utah and realized he wanted to become a physician. About that same time, his mom had been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer through a preventive health screening, and thankfully, to this day she is cancer-free. Both of these experiences helped define his desire to be that kind of a family physician – helping others live healthy lives and building long-term relationships with his patients. Dr. Christensen was impressed with what Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program offers residents, including more procedural training and education, a strong OB curriculum, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, and Point of Care Ultrasound that will help prepare him to be the best physician he can be.

Kimberly Euler, DO

Kimberly Euler, DO, grew up in Wathena, Kansas. She received her Bachelor of Science from Washburn University in Topeka. It was during her undergraduate years that she realized that medicine was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Dr. Euler went on to obtain her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. Known for having a leading family medicine residency program and great faculty are just a few of the reasons why Dr. Euler decided to complete her residency at the Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program. She also has a Master of Science in Anatomy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dr. Peterson chose family medicine as her specialty because she loves the variety of patients and health conditions. Her goal is to practice rural medicine where she can offer full-scope medicine, from the clinic to ED, to delivering babies. One of the reasons Dr. Peterson decided to do her residency at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program is its rural training program that will give her the experience and skills to manage all aspects of medical care in a rural community that may have limited resources.

Lexia Zenger, MD

Lexia Zenger, MD, had always considered becoming a doctor, but it wasn’t until she was in college and was able to shadow physicians that she made the final decision to pursue medicine as a career. Dr. Zenger attended Kansas State University in Manhattan where she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She earned her Medical Degree from The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. Practicing medicine in a rural area was one reason why Dr. Zenger chose family medicine as her specialty. The full scope of illnesses and ages of patients offers her the greatest opportunities to care for the life-long medical needs of patients. She decided to do her residency at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program as it allows her to tailor her education and receive hands-on training in specific procedures that she hopes to provide in her future practice.
