Megan Erickson, MD
Dr. Megan Erickson says she's wanted to be a doctor for as long as she can remember. One of her earliest inspirations came from her childhood primary care physician, who made her paper airplanes during appointments. This simple gesture left a lasting impression and helped spark her dream of becoming a doctor.
After earning her degree in Human Biology from Chadron State College, Dr. Erickson attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She liked family medicine because of its breadth, flexibility, and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients. Growing up in Bassett, Nebraska, she saw firsthand how limited access to healthcare affects an entire community, and how important a full-spectrum family physician is in improving care for rural populations. Her goal is to practice in an underserved rural community and help expand access to comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages.
Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program has a strong reputation for excellence and came highly recommended by mentors Dr. Erickson trusts. During the interview process, she recalls feeling welcomed by the residents and faculty, appreciating the supportive environment and close-knit, family-like culture. She is confident this quality program will prepare her for practice in a rural setting.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Erickson enjoys cooking and baking a variety of foods, as well as thrifting, decorating, and fashion. She's also taught herself how to quilt, which is quickly becoming one of her favorite creative hobbies.
