John Hiscock, DO
Dr. John Hiscock watched his father navigate life with Type 1 diabetes, which gave him an early look at the realities of chronic disease and the important role physicians play in supporting patients over time. That experience ultimately inspired him to pursue a career in medicine.
Family medicine stood out to Dr. Hiscock for the variety it offers, from caring for patients of all ages to working across outpatient clinics, hospital settings, and emergency departments. He appreciates the flexibility of the specialty and the opportunity to build relationships with patients through all stages of life.
Because of the Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program's unopposed structure and hands-on learning environment, Dr. Hiscock knew this was where he wanted to complete his residency. He was drawn to the opportunity to gain procedural experience while exploring the many paths available within family medicine—the kind of broad training he was seeking as he prepares for his future career.
From Bennington, Nebraska, Dr. Hiscock is known to most people as “Bart.” He enjoys spending time with his partner, Grace, and their cats, Milo and Ally. His interests include board games, video games, cooking, basketball, and watching sports—especially cheering on the Huskers (GBR).
