Nareen Elias, MBChB
For Dr. Nareen Elias, medicine has always been rooted in compassion and service. Growing up in Bashiqa, a small town in northern Iraq, she witnessed firsthand the challenges many families faced in accessing healthcare and medications. Living through war, displacement, and instability further shaped her desire to care for vulnerable and underserved communities and make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
Dr. Elias earned her medical degree from the University of Mosul–College of Medicine, focusing on family medicine because of its holistic, relationship-centered approach to care. She values the opportunity to build long-term connections with patients and support individuals and families through every stage of life. Her experiences working in hospitals, community clinics, and refugee camps reinforced her passion for caring for both the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program was a clear choice for Dr. Elias because of its supportive environment, excellent training, and commitment to caring for diverse patient populations. After moving to the United States, Nebraska became the first place she called home, and Lincoln continues to hold a special place for her and her family. She especially appreciates the opportunity to serve both the Yazidi community and the broader Nebraska community through compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Elias lives in Lincoln with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, learning about different cultures and medical advancements, and visiting historical sites.
