Merveille Tshita, MD

Dr. Merveille Tshita’s journey into medicine began in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where she grew up watching her mother work as a devoted midwife. Seeing the compassion, skill, and care her mother showed patients left a lasting impression on her at a young age. That early inspiration was later deepened when her father was treated for pancreatic cancer—an experience that reinforced just how meaningful it is to have a physician who can guide and support patients and families through difficult times.

Before pursuing her medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine, Dr. Tshita earned a degree in Child, Youth & Family Studies with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She appreciates the breadth of family medicine—from pediatrics to geriatrics, and from prevention to chronic disease management—because it offers the opportunity to care for patients cohesively while building lasting relationships over time.

Lincoln Family Medicine Residency stood out to her for both professional and personal reasons. As an unopposed program, Dr. Tshita feels it provides the broad, hands-on training she sought. Lincoln is also home, where her family lives and where she has a strong support system. During her interview experience, she immediately felt welcomed by both residents and faculty, and appreciated the sense of teamwork and genuine care throughout the program.

Dr. Tshita enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband, Reagan, and their two sons, Nolan-Molongi and Logan-Elonga. She is fluent in French, English, Lingala, and Tshiluba, and enjoys how language helps her connect with patients from many different backgrounds.
